12 pm - 3 pm Apple Festival An MMC tradition since 2009, Apple Fest is a joint outdoor street festival and activities fair for Registered Student Organizations. Come for the fun and games, and stay for the delicious food trucks! Apple Fest is sponsored by the Campus Activities Board and the Office of Student Development and Activities. 3 pm - 4:30 pm Intercultural Center Open House Stop by to meet Hayden Greene, who is joining MMC in October as the associate dean of students and Intercultural Center director. He’s looking forward to meeting students, parents, alumni, and friends. Come to explore what the IC has to offer, but plan to stay once you see how this important space brings together our multicultural communities within MMC. 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm The 2023 Barry Commoner Lecture on the Environment: In Conversation with Elizabeth Kolbert Elizabeth Kolbert is an American journalist and author best known for her Pulitzer Prize-winning book The Sixth Extinction: An Unnatural History. Kolbert’s most recent book, Under a White Sky: The Nature of the Future, is about humanity’s harmful impact on the environment and ideas to rectify that harm. A national bestseller, Under a White Sky was named one of the best books of the year by the Washington Post, Time, Esquire, Smithsonian Magazine, Publishers Weekly, Kirkus Reviews, and Library Journal.
