MMC Onward

May 11, 2023, marked the end of the federal COVID-19 Public Health Emergency. As a result, MMC has modified its COVID-19 protocols to reflect the most current guidance from public health officials and best practices in higher education.

To better reflect the current situation, the College has made the following modifications to its COVID policy, in keeping with the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as state and local health departments.

MMC will no longer require proof of COVID vaccination.

Kindly note the below additional updates, which are subject to change as we continue to monitor the guidance of public health experts.

  • Mask use on campus is optional—unless you’ve tested positive, in which case masks are required between return from isolation and day 10.

The Dow Zanghi Student Health Center and the Counseling and Wellness Center may be required by the CDC and New York State Department of Health to enforce a different mask-wearing policy than other areas on campus. These requirements will be posted within the Dow Zanghi Student Health Center and Counseling and Wellness Center when necessary.
  • Confirmed cases of COVID-19 still require isolation.

Students, faculty, or staff who test positive for COVID must isolate off campus for at least five days.

As a reminder, anyone who tests positive must notify safety@mmm.edu immediately.

Any individual who has been isolating due to a positive COVID test may not return to campus until after the 5th day of isolation, and if symptomatic, only if symptoms have subsided. A well-fitting mask must be worn while on-campus between the 6th and 10th days following a COVID illness.
  • Precautionary self-quarantine will not be required for individuals exposed to COVID-19.
  • Residence hall students will not be moved to isolation spaces within the residence halls.

COVID-positive students will isolate within their assigned suites, may go home to isolate, or may isolate at another safe place. Residence hall s
tudents are asked to contact residencelife@mmm.edu and safety@mmm.edu with any questions about this policy.
