MMC Onward
With MMC’s extraordinarily high rate of vaccination, COVID does not pose the same challenge to our community now as it did in 2020.
To better reflect the current situation, the College has made the following modifications to its COVID policy, in keeping with the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and state and local health departments.
Though we are loosening protocols in some areas, the College’s COVID vaccination requirement remains in effect for all students, faculty, and staff.
Moreover, the following updates are subject to change as we continue to monitor the pandemic and follow the guidance of health experts.
-
Mask use will be optional in most—but not all—indoor MMC spaces.
Masks will still be required in the following spaces:
- The Dow Zanghi Student Health Center
- The Counseling and Wellness Center
These areas are required by the CDC and New York State Department of Health to enforce a strict mask-wearing policy. In all other MMC spaces, masks will be optional. -
Mask policy for Fine and Performing Arts (FAPA): Given the nature of some of the work you may do in a FAPA course and our desire to keep everyone healthy, you may be asked to wear a mask in that course for certain activities. Therefore, please always bring a mask with you to class.
-
Confirmed cases of COVID-19 still require isolation, but the length of isolation may vary.
Students, faculty, or staff who test positive for COVID must isolate off campus for at least five days.
As a reminder, anyone who tests positive must notify safety@mmm.edu immediately. Any individual who has been isolating due to a positive COVID test will need to show a negative result from a COVID antigen test taken the day after their isolation period ends to be cleared to return to campus.
The College will continue to set aside designated spaces within each res hall for residential students who need to isolate. However, in response to the change in need, isolation space in our 55th Street Residence Hall will be limited to one floor. Isolation space in our Cooper Square Residence Halls will continue as is. -
Precautionary self-quarantine will not be required for individuals exposed to COVID-19.
Anyone that has been exposed to COVID must wear a mask for 10 full days while indoors or around others, and must get tested after the 5th day. -
The College is lifting several restrictions at our residence halls.
Overnight guests will again be allowed at the College’s res halls, provided guests check in with security and can show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test taken within 48 hours prior to arrival.
For move-in days, students will be able to have two helpers as they move into the res halls.
The Fitness Center at the 55th Street residence hall is reopened without restriction. -
Official MMC-related travel has been fully reinstated.
Please talk with your supervisor for any business travel details.
Any questions on these changes can be directed to safety@mmm.edu.
