Leadership Opportunities through Endowed Scholarships

Scholarships are a type of financial aid that do not have to be repaid. Student Development and Activities facilitates the distribution of leadership-based scholarships at Marymount Manhattan College to those applicants who show an interest and ongoing engagement in leadership development and opportunities. Below you will find information pertaining to our scholarships, eligibility requirements, and how and when to apply to each.


The Gladys Brooks Foundation Scholarship

If you are an incoming new student at MMC, you may be eligible to apply for the non-renewable Gladys Brooks Foundation Scholarship. This scholarship is available only to first-year students with a proven track record of academic excellence and progressive extra-curricular leadership development. Each Gladys Brooks Foundation scholarship is approximately $750, but amounts may vary based on available funds.

Eligibility Requirements

  1. Must be enrolled as a full-time student for your first semester at MMC; must maintain full-time status (12+ credits both fall and spring)
  2. Must hold a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 from your previous institution
  3. Must show evidence of progressive leadership experience through academic, extra-curricular, athletic, or community-based involvement.
  4. Must participate in the Emerging Leaders program during the spring semester.

Students accepted into the Emerging Leaders program will automatically be awarded the Gladys Brooks scholarship; they do not need to apply separately to the scholarship. The application for the Emerging Leaders program is open for Spring 2024 and will close on October 16th, 2023 at 9:00AM.


The Theresa Lang Endowed Scholarship

The Theresa Lang Endowed Scholarship is awarded to current Marymount Manhattan sophomores, juniors, and seniors who display a pattern of academic excellence and outstanding community service and/or co-curricular activities. Each of the Theresa Lang Endowed Scholarships is approximately $1,000 per semester, but amounts may vary based on available funds. These funds non-renewable.

Eligibility Requirements

  1. Must be enrolled as a full-time matriculated student at Marymount Manhattan College
  2. Must hold a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0
  3. Must show evidence of progressive leadership experience through academic, extra-curricular, athletic and/or community-based involvement
  4. Must participate in the Leadership Scholars program

Students accepted into the Leadership Scholars program will automatically be awarded the Theresa Lang scholarship; they do not need to apply separately to the scholarship. The application for the Leadership Scholars program is open for Spring 2024 and will close on October 16th, 2023 at 9:00AM.
