Monkeypox Updates:
On July 23, 2022 monkeypox was declared a Global Health Emergency by the World Health Organization. As of July28, 2022 there are 20, 638 cases worldwide; of those cases 4,638 are confirmed in the U.S. and 1,228 of those cases are in the State of New York.
On August 1, 2022 New York City Mayor Eric Adams issued an emergency executive order declaring a local state of emergency due to the monkeypox outbreak.

If you suspect you have monkeypox or have been diagnosed with it, you may contact the Health Center at healthcenter@mmm.edu for a telehealth visit. If you need to be seen in-person, the Health Center can provide you with off-campus referrals for further evaluation and testing.

Monkeypox Vaccination Updates (posted 8/26/2022):
If you are interested in getting vaccinated for monkeypox, you may reach out to the Health Center (healthcenter@mmm.edu), who can connect you to a Referral Specialist within the Mount Sinai Beth Israel system for a vaccine appointment (assuming criteria listed below are met).
Currently, the Mount Sinai system is able to offer the first dose of the JYNNEOS™ vaccine to those who attest to meeting all three of the following eligibility criteria:
- 18 years old or older
- Gay, bisexual, or other man who has sex with men, and/or transgender, gender non-conforming, or gender non-binary
- Have had multiple or anonymous sex partners in the last 14 days
Students may also get vaccinated through the NYC Health Department: Monkeypox - NYC Health

Due to COVID-19, we ask that students contact the Health Center at 212-759-5870 or healthcenter@mmm.edu to schedule an appointment, rather than dropping in.
NOTE: The Health Center is equipped to perform COVID-19 testing for students who are not exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms. For students with symptoms, Health Center staff will offer telehealth consultations and off-campus testing and evaluation referrals.
The Dow Zanghi Student Health Center provides primary medical care to Marymount Manhattan College students. The Center is staffed by a Physician Assistant and a Medical Assistant. It is operated by Mount Sinai Beth Israel Business Health in partnership with the College.
All students, including commuters and those living at the other MMC residence halls, may use the Health Center free of charge with a current MMC identification card.
Services include:
- Diagnosis and treatment
- Follow-up and evaluation
- Blood-draw*
- Health education
- Writing prescriptions*
- Flu shots*
- Referrals
*Lab work, prescriptions and some immunizations, such as the MMR Vaccines or flu shots, have fees associated. These fees may be charged back to the student’s health insurance company.
After hours, on days the Dow Zanghi Student Health Center is closed, for COVID-19 testing, or urgent medical issues, students may visit one of the following Mount Sinai Locations:
