If you would like to learn more about what the plan covers, please view the 21-22 Plan Brochure and feel free to contact University Health Plans at 800-437-6448 or info@univhealthplans.com with any questions.

The cost is $3,022 for the annual period (8/15/21 – 8/14/22).

Note: Be on the lookout for emails from University Health Plans, which contain details of the plan, including dates, fees, and how to enroll or waive out. Email reminders will be sent weekly to your MMC email, so if you aren’t getting them, be sure to check your spam folder!

How to Waive Out

If you and your family feel you have adequate health insurance to cover you in NYC , you can visit universityhealthplans.com/MMC to waive out of MMC’s  insurance plan.

Once you are logged on, please follow the prompts to waive MMC’s insurance. You will need:

  • Your student ID number
  • Your valid health insurance card

Once you receive verification that your waiver is approved, the charge for health insurance will be removed from your MMC bill.

How to Enroll

As soon as New York State approves the plan (late July/early August), MMC will communicate with you via your MMC email. At that time, you will be able to review the plan details and complete your enrollment.

I already waived insurance last year. Do I need to opt-out again?

Yes. We are required to collect insurance information from all students EVERY academic year. So, all returning students must opt-out of the insurance plan EACH YEAR, otherwise, you will be charged for the insurance.

Can you tell me whether my current insurance plan provides sufficient coverage in NYC?

No. We do not have access to the details of every insurance plan, and while some provide full coverage in NYC, others do not. CWC strongly recommends that you contact your health insurance directly to inquire whether your student will have comprehensive coverage while studying in NYC.

If I send you my health insurance card, can you waive the insurance for me?

No. The CWC does not collect or process insurance waivers via email. Please access the waiver form on the University Health Plans website: https://www.universityhealthplans.com/mmc.

Are International students required to enroll?

MMC students on an F-1 Visa who are residing in the United States are required to enroll in this insurance plan. You still need to activate the insurance and download your ID card by visiting www.universityhealthplans.com/mmc (see How to Enroll).
