“I’ve always been into beauty myself, so it was pretty easy for me to come up with these tips and also to be funny for the target audience, which was young black women. Through this internship I have learned to be organized, and to manage a tight schedule. Overall, it was a good internship, and I’m glad that I was able to help the company increase their Instagram views.”
While interning for Knotty Beauty NYC, I was asked to create social media posts for platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. Along with making posts, the CEO also wanted me to include “trendy media” such as Reels, which was extremely popular on TikTok and Instagram.
I often used Canva to create these posts. The CEO had emphasized that her goal was to improve business-to-consumer communications. Although my main task throughout this internship was posing on Instagram and making trendy videos, I tailored my Instagram posts to connect with the consumer. My posts included funny quotes, and often featured beauty tips/hair tips for the consumer.
