Dr. Jennifer Brown Wins Grant to Attend Folger Institute Workshop

As part of her continuing research on New York medievalism, Dr. Brown will attend a weekend workshop taking place in late May.

The Folger Institute is an advanced research center at the Folger Shakespeare Library. Every year, they host a collection of scholarly programs based around Shakespeare and the time period in which he worked.

This year, they have awarded Dr. Brown a grant that will cover her housing and travel to Historicizing Heritage, a workshop that asks the following questions: “How are familial, ethnic, and regional heritages constructed, and what affects and politics are mobilized in the processes? What do historical narratives and reenactments – be they factual, counterfactual, utopian, or all three – allow individuals and communities to reveal, desire, perpetuate, or protest?”

Dr. Brown plans to use this workshop to further her research and craft a new course at MMC.

Congratulations, Dr. Brown!
