The Musical Theatre Pre-College Summer Intensive Program at Marymount Manhattan College gives high school rising juniors and seniors the opportunity to study in New York City. The program offers training in dance, voice and acting as well as college audition preparation and access to Broadway shows. Students will focus on the fundamentals and process of their craft and will have the opportunity to share their work with friends and family at the end of the program. Faculty from Marymount Manhattan’s nationally renowned musical theatre program will lead the intensive, giving students a true college experience. Guest artists from the industry will also be brought in for seminars and special topics.
Applicants must be 16 years of age on or before July 1, 2017 in order to be able to participate in the Musical Theatre Intensive. This program requires that all participants live in the Marymount Manhattan College Residence Hall located at 231 East 55th Street for the duration of the program.

A Typical Day
Although no two days will be the same during the Summer Musical Theatre Intensive, a typical day during the program might look like this:
10:00am - 11:30am - dance
11:30am - 1:00pm - musical theatre history and ensemble singing
1:00pm - 2:00pm - lunch
2:00pm - 2:30pm - private vocal coaching
2:30pm - 5:00pm - acting for musical theatre
5:00pm - 6:00pm - special topic seminar
7:00pm-10:00pm -evening activities
All program participants are required to live in the residence hall for the duration of the program. Participants will be housed in the College’s 55th Street Residence Hall. Housing is available to students accepted for the intensive, and who will be at least 16 years of age as of 7/1/17.

The residence hall check-in will take place on Sunday 7/9/17. The residence hall checkout will take place on Saturday 7/22/17. Additional information regarding the check-in and check-out will be provided to each accepted student in May.
All Musical Theatre program participants are required to participate in the Marymount Dining Dollars meal plan. The cost of this plan for the two week period will be $400. The meal plan is a declining balance card and students may add money to their card throughout the course of the program. Students will have access to the Marymount Manhattan College cafeteria located at 221 East 71st Street from 8:30am to 2:30pm, Monday-Thursday. Evening and weekend meals are not included in the meal plan. Grocery stores and restaurants are located near the 55th Street residence hall. The estimated budget for additional meals, transportation and other personal costs is approximately $150.00 This budget will vary depending on student’s individual needs.
This is a non-credit intensive. College credit is not available.

- Marymount Pre-College Summer Intensive Program Application.
- Marymount Pre-College Recommendation Form from a high school teacher.
- Statement of Purpose: In one or two pages, please describe what you hope to achieve during the Pre-College Summer Intensive Program in Musical Theatre and what has prepared you for this experience.
- A headshot and theatre resume.
- Submit an audition video consisting of two contrasting 16-32 bar song cuts from the Broadway repertoire (no pop/rock songs please).
- Please state your name, hometown and title of your audition selections at the beginning of your video.
- You must use live or taped accompaniment. A capella audition will not be considered.
- Make sure your video shot is at least from the waist up.
- Please do not submit a video from a production.

Priority Application Date
All of the application materials are due by April 17, 2017. Applications received after that date will be processed as they are received. Applicants who apply by the April 17 priority application date will be notified of acceptance into the program by May 1, 2017. Enrollment and registration in any Pre-College Summer Intensive Program does not imply acceptance into any degree program at Marymount Manhattan.
