Austin Nelson ’14

Class of 2014, B.S. in Marketing

“I graduated with a BS in Marketing in February 2014 and I absolutely loved the business program at Marymount Manhattan College. The professors were the best part of the program; the individual attention they provided was unique and I still keep in touch with many of them.”

About

I never imagined that I would be working in higher education but I have found that running a college is indeed a business and my undergraduate degree has helped me with my job. I use my Marketing degree to market our college to community college students. I also serve as the downstate co-chair of the New York State Transfer and Articulation Association and organize regional meetings to connect over 100 colleges and universities. Throughout my undergraduate years, I was involved with New York Cares, a local charity that runs community-based projects, and presently serve as a member of the committee that plans fundraising events. I wouldn’t have made these connections without the professors at MMC who always encouraged me to get involved.   My advice to future students is to get involved while on campus, connect with your professors, take advantage of clubs, use NYC as a resource, and build your resume to attain your goals.
