International Applicant

One of Marymount Manhattan’s great strengths is the diversity of our student body — we have students from 48 states nationwide and 50 countries worldwide. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Once your file is complete, a decision is made and communicated to you within 3 weeks. Be sure to review our scholarships for international students.

Once you are admitted to the College, you will want to apply for your student visa


 YOU ARE A FIRST-YEAR APPLICANT IF:

  • Currently enrolled in secondary school with no college credits; or
  • Currently enrolled in secondary school with dual enrollment college credits; or
  • Graduated from secondary school with no earned college credits; and
  • Have never attended MMC (if you previously attended MMC, see Re-admit process

International First-Year Admission Requirements

  • MMC Application or Common Application
  • Official high school or secondary school transcript or GED score sheet and diploma (official records must be accompanied by a certified translation if issued in languages other than English, Fulbright or World Education Services certification)
  • TOEFLIELTS, or PTE examination score if English is NOT your native language (scores must be no more than two years old prior to applying for admission)
  • SAT I or ACT scores if English IS your native language. (MMC code is 2405 for SAT and 2811 for ACT)
  • Two recommendations from academic or professional sources
  • Essay (250-500 words, topics listed on Step 2 of the MMC Application or when prompted on the Common Application)
  • 60USD non-refundable application fee

Homeschooled students must also submit the Homeschool Student Information Form

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

Proof of high school graduation must be submitted by one of the following:

  • Official State-certified High School Diploma
  • GED/TASC/Certificate of High School Equivalency Exam Completion

Homeschooled students must meet the following requirements:

  • Homeschool final transcript and homeschool diploma submitted as proof of graduation; otherwise the GED/TASC/Certificate of High School Equivalency Exam required
  • NY residents must pass the TASC Exam or an Ability-to-Benefit (ATB) exam to qualify for NY State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) funds 

YOU ARE A TRANSFER IF:

  • Graduated from secondary school and have completed college credit; or
  • Graduated from secondary school and are enrolled in their first semester of college; and
  • Have never attended MMC (if you previously attended MMC, see Re-admit process

International Transfer Admission Requirements

  • MMC Application or Common Application
  • Official high school or secondary school transcript or GED score sheet and diploma (official records must be accompanied by a certified translation if issued in languages other than English, Fulbright certification preferred)
  • Official transcripts from any and all accredited post-secondary institutions attended (evaluation may be required by World Education Services for transfer students)
  • TOEFLIELTS, or PTE examination score if English is NOT your native language (scores must be no more than two years old prior to applying for admission)
  • One recommendation from academic or professional sources
  • Judicial Record Form
  • Essay (250-500 words, topics listed on Step 2 of the MMC Application or when prompted on the Common Application)
  • MMC Transfer Form (if currently studying in the U.S.)
  • 60USD non-refundable application fee

Homeschooled students must also submit the Homeschool Student Information Form


Test Scores

If your native language is not English, you are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exam. A score of 550 on the paper based test, a score of 80 on the Internet based test, or a score of 213 on the computer based test is required. When you take the TOEFL exam, request that the official score be submitted directly to Marymount Manhattan College (MMC’s school code is 2405). Alternatively, the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam with an overall band score of 6 or a minimum score of 58 on the Pearson Test of English (PTE) are also acceptable. Test scores must be no more than two years old prior to applying for admission.

Note: Photocopies of test scores will not be considered.


World Education Services (WES) Evaluation of Foreign Educational Credentials

If you have attended a college or university outside the United States and would like to have your credits transferred to MMC, you may be required to submit an official credentials evaluation. Contact the Office of International Admission to determine this requirement. You can obtain an official evaluation of your credentials from WES. This group will evaluate your education credentials and convert them into their U.S. equivalents. You are still required to submit a copy of the original official transcripts, and translated notarized versions of your official transcripts to MMC.
